Workwell

The Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) has developed a workplace inspection audit program called Workwell. WorkWell conducts Health & Safety audits of firms with poor safety records with a focus on encouraging the development of an effective internal responsibility system in the workplace. The Workwell Program consists of:

  • A comprehensive audit of a workplace's Health & Safety management system
  • Six-month grace period to correct deficiencies
  • A follow-up audit to determine results

Failure of the second audit carries with it financial implications with potential surcharges of up to $500,000 in some instances.
