Young and New Worker Blitz - May to August 2010
The Ministry of Labour will conduct a four month long young and new worker safety blitz throughout Ontario from May to August 2010. The blitz will focus on:
- young, new workers aged 15 to 24 years, and
- new workers 25 and older that have been on the job less than six months or reassigned to a new job
What's different about this year's blitz?
- A four month long blitz as compared to one month last year
- All MOL inspectors (over 550) will be pressed into service for this blitz.
- Firms across all sectors will be targeted. The only criteria will be the presence of new and young workers
- Workplaces with hazards that new and young workers could be exposed to will be visited

You should always tape down electrical cords if there is a possibility of someone walking over the cord. This will minimize the possibility of someone tripping. Refer to OSSA Safety Check Sheet on Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls for more information.
