42% of all lost time injuries are attributable to musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). This is a leading occupational injury, with even higher occurrence in the service sector.
MSDs include injuries such as back sprain, muscle strain, tendonitis, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Almost $18 million dollars is paid out annually in lost-time compensation to service industry employees for MSDs. This equates to having employees miss an average of 10 days of work.
