For Immediate Release
The Ontario Service Safety Alliance (OSSA) was announced yesterday as the recipient of a Canada Awards for Excellence (CAE) Silver Award from the National Quality Institute for providing high-quality service to its clients.
Background on OSSA
The Ontario Service Safety Alliance (OSSA), established in 1998, is the designated safe workplace association for the service sector in Ontario.
With more than 81,000 member firms across 5 service sub-sectors (retail and wholesale distributors, office and temporary agencies, vehicle sales and service, tourism and hospitality, and restaurant and foodservice) the OSSA delivers customized health & safety products, training and expert consultation to an industry that employs over 70% of the people who live in Ontario.
Service sector businesses typically cope with high employee turnover, large part-time staff, regular patterns of seasonal employment, and a variety of hazards which aren’t faced in an industrial or manufacturing environment. OSSA delivers relevant, sector-specific programs and services that meet the service sector’s need for affordable, flexible health and safety solutions.
OSSA is committed to delivering high quality products and services to its clients, and as such, has pursued the National Quality Institute’s (NQI) Progressive Excellence Program (PEP). In December 2006, OSSA received PEP Level III certification from NQI – a full year in advance of expectations.
The OSSA Vision & Mission
Our Vision is to lead and inspire change: Workplace injury and illness are unacceptable.
Our Mission is to enable Ontario service sector workplaces to be the healthiest and safest in the world.
